A brief History of Glorious Revolution.
War between House of Tudors and House of Lancaster
War between house of Lancaster and House of York resulted in the winning of the former. This started the reign of Tudor dynasty. Henry VII (1485 - 1509) becomes the first king. After his death, he was followed by his son Henry VIII (1509 - 1547).
Henry VIII:
Every student of history knows about this notorious king. He married six times. And he either killed or left all of his wives. Names of his wives are given below.
1. Catherine of Aragon (1485-1536).
He left her because he wanted to marry Anne Boleyn. She was the bride of his brother. But after the death of his brother, Henry VIII married her.
2. Anne Boleyn (1501-1536): She was executed for adultery.
3. Jane Seymour (1508-1537): She died after giving birth to male heir (Edward VI).

Edward VI:
After Henry, Edward VI becomes the king. He didn't rule long and due to his bad health he died.
Lady Mary:
After him lady Mary asecended to the throne. She was the daughter of Catherine of Aragon, and like her mother, she was a diehard Catholic. Her period is notorious for her revenge against the the Protestants. She is named as bloody Mary because she allowed the killings of the Protestants on massive scale.
The real period starts with the Elizabeth (1558 - 1603).
Elizabeth:
Elizabeth was childless. She had no heir to the throne. Her rule is one of the greatest period for the United Kingdom. She once said "I am married to England".
And due to her childlessness, the dynasty of Stuarts replaced the dynasty Tudors after 1603.
Stuarts dynasty:
James I:
James I (1603 - 1625) becomes the king of England as well. Formerly, he was king Scotland and was known as James VI.
Charles I:
After him, his son Charles I (1625 - 1649) becomes the king. He was executed in 1649 on the charge of treason.
Oliver Cromwell:
After him the dictatorship of Oliver Cormwell begun from 1549 to 1560. But in 1660 monarchy was restored in England by Parliament after the death of Cormwell.
Charles II and James II:
And Charles II (1660 - 1685) becomes the monarch. After him James II (1685 - 1688) becomes the king. He was Catholic while England was Protestant. He was made king because he was ill and it was supposed by parliament that he will die and his daughters, Marie and Anne, who were both Protestants, will become queen. But this didn't happen. He had an other wife who was Catholic, and she gave birth to a boy which parliament didn't like. Because it was a law that boy will replace the girls if the latter is to be made queen.
Anne and William of Orange:
Therefore, parliament summoned Anne and his husband William of Orange to claim the throne. They fought with James II and he was defeated. Anne became the monarch and with it began the period of Constitutional Monarchy in England. This constitutional monarchy is called Glorious Revolution.
